Why you should hire an EMS Personal Trainer
Let’s look at the primary benefits a personal trainer can provide, specifically an EMS personal trainer such as Bodybuzz. Although our main service is providing EMS fitness sessions, we also provide good ol’ traditional personal training. I am just highlighting some of the differences in services.
Most goals fall into one or more of these categories:
- Move better: more strength, flexibility, mobility, balance
- Look better: losing fat, gaining muscle, better posture
- Feel better: alleviate aches and pains, mental health, more confidence
- Play better: being able to go hiking, swimming, cycling, running, or goofing around with your kids or grandkids.
What is stopping you from attaining your goals?
Most obstacles to exercising consistently fall under one or more of these:
- Motivation: motivation to exercise, to exercise at the intensity you need, or with enough frequency.
- Accountability: reminding yourself to exercise, making it a priority in your schedule, adjusting it according to circumstances, and not completely skipping it.
- Time: allocating enough time for all your physical activities.
- Injuries: being currently injured or being afraid of getting injured
- Aches and pains: having aches and pains that you worry may get aggravated by exercise.
- Knowledge: knowing what exercise modality to do, how to do it, and how much of it to do.
- Access: access to equipment, having enough space.
- Inconvenience: the gym is too far, hours don’t work for you, you don’t like the crowd, you feel intimidated, among many other things that could be inconvenient.
- Money: being able to afford an exercise program that’s right for you.
Personal training:
It is easy to see how a certified personal trainer can help you with many of these obstacles.
- Most certified personal trainers will be able to help you with motivation, accountability, and knowledge of the basics.
- An educated certified personal trainer should also be able to help you with more knowledge (nutrition, treatments), alleviating common aches and pains, and maybe circumvent some injuries.
- An experienced and educated certified personal trainer will add another layer by maybe helping treat the injury by contacting your physical therapist or orthopedist, looking into research studies, expanding your knowledge in other areas, and having referral partners such as trusted massage therapists, acupuncturists, myofascial release therapists and so on.
As for the other limitations:
- Time: A traditional personal training session is typically one hour.
- Access: you will have to decide between joining a gym and adding the cost of a membership and time to get there, or meeting your trainer at a personal training studio which will either add a cost to you or to your trainer as well as time to get there. Typically gyms and training studios will have all the equipment needed.
- Inconvenience: The other option is having your personal trainer come to your house or office or meet you at a nearby park. This option saves you time and makes it very convenient. However, it will require an investment on your side to buy and store fitness equipment or rely on what the trainer can bring with them. There will inevitably be some compromise here.
- Money: Usually the more experienced and educated the trainer is, the more they will charge.
Enter electrical muscle stimulation personal training:
EMS personal trainers can fall into any of the above categories: certified, educated, or experienced & educated with an additional certification in electrical muscle stimulation training.
An EMS fitness trainer will still give you motivation, accountability, and knowledge while providing you with great solutions for all the other major obstacles:
- Aches and pains: The stimulation itself, in many cases, can help alleviate muscular pains and aches. Especially during our recovery program which helps promote blood flow and lymphatic drainage, and removes lactic acid. Alleviating pain is how EMS fitness initially started in physical therapy.
- Injuries: EMS workouts are especially effective while recovering from injuries because it is not necessary to move through full ranges of motion. As long as you’re able to contract your own muscle, the EMS suit will do the rest. Usain Bolt famously used electrical muscle stimulation to train his core and avoid injury before his final Olympics.
- Time: EMS workouts save time. The short 20-minute sessions yield the same results as an hour or more of traditional weight-lifting according to research studies.
- Access: your EMS fitness trainer brings the EMS suit and accessories for every session, so there is no need to invest in additional equipment and storage.
- Convenience: we provide a mobile service, so we can train you wherever you want.
- Money: Personal training in Los Angeles, Las Vegas, and San Diego are in the range of $100 to $200 per session for trainers with experience and continued education. We fall within these ranges, but offer additional benefits. An analogy I often use is comparing a direct flight from LAX to JFK without any luggage to a flight with a layover and carrying a bunch of suitcases.
A note about experience and education: In our company, we only hire very experienced, and educated trainers. We’ve completed all required EMS certifications, and place major importance on continuing EMS education. We gather every month to review research studies, adjust our EMS protocols as appropriate, and discuss specifics for every client.
If you know someone who is in the market for a personal trainer, we’ll be happy to speak to them. You can direct them to our website: https://www.bodybuzzfit.com/book-a-session/ and someone from our team will give them a call.
